There is also an exploit with the star, where if you let yourself die after getting it, you keep all the experience and you’ll be able to get it again, and you can farm experience endlessly.

wrong, a freebie in SMRPG is an extra item you get after using it, Example I use a Mushroom, Get a Freebie appears, I get an extra mushroom (in other words I used an item for frre, or if you would like to put it another ways, i just got the same item i used)

When i played this game on the nes i got to level 6 before the hammer bros. because the move you learn is super jump which is really good against the hammer bros. and croco and the keroerokola is worth 200 coins so sell it if you need money
