I always thought the Flame Wall and similar effects were darkened because of Nintendo’s anti-seizure policy. Another good example would be the absence of fullscreen flashes upon dying in the VC release of Zelda II. When i played this game on the nes i got to level 6 before the hammer bros. because the move you learn is super jump which is really good against the hammer bros. and croco and in 5 to 7 moves i think will ko mack
