play the comman and conquer series. like red alert 2, its the BEST

Well the genre that AOE belongs with would be real time strategy and the sims is simulation but as far as RTS goes, i like Rise of Nations and Company of heroes( which is a WWII based RTS)

WarCraft III is a very good strategy game for the P.C (real time strategy)

It also has thousands of custom downloadable maps that players have created.

It offers almost unlimited playability, and it also has different campaigns and expansion packs you can get.

You don’t NEED to get the War Chiefs, I would reccomend getting and playing Age 3 first and if you like it then get the expansion.

I second getting “Company of Heroes” it’s a great game with good strategy.

Sign up for Valve’s Steam. The guys that made Left 4 Dead, Orange Box, etc. I think it’s free to sign up. But you get access to tons of awesome games, like Empire: Total War, or just the Total War series in general, which are good RTS’. They almost always have incredible deals on games. I think I got 3 of the Total War games for like $20.00, and these are great games.

AOE it’s the best strategy game ever, but AOE 2 is the top… 3 has interesting graphics, story and heroes, but I’ve finished the Campaigns and I’ve uninstalled it(so much I’ve liked it…) - Empire earth is pretty much like aoe, but it takes years to build up resources - starcraft, warcraft and Blizzard games!
So, try everything you can get your hands on, it’s only up to you what would you like or not.
Btw, if you’re a AOE 2 fan, you’ll be surprised with AOE 3!
